Family Ties at Atria Sandy
Posted on January 26, 2014 by Taylor Rhea
John “Big John” Schirack and his three daughters have always been close. When he moved into Atria Sandy in Sandy, Utah in 2007, he didn’t have to sacrifice his relationship with them at all. In fact, he sees them every day!
All three of Big John’s daughters work for Atria Sandy.
Nina Schirack Dziatlik (far left in the photo) is the Community Sales Director (sharing the title with Robyn Childs, both of whom are three-year Pinnacle Award winners). She has been with Atria Sandy for four years. She was in sales for many years, so the sales position with Atria is a natural fit.
Sharon Schirack Kerkman (behind Nina) is a PRN Concierge and Receptionist, working a few hours each week. She retired from Merrill Lynch in 2010, after 35 years, but has found enjoyment in working a few hours weekly at Atria Sandy because her second career gives her the opportunity to be closer to her father.
Sandy Schirack Nosack (far right) is an Engage Life Assistant. She, too, has been with Atria Sandy for more than four years. She is also a cancer survivor – not just once or twice, but three times!
Big John is a retired anesthesiologist and has lived at Atria Sandy in an independent living apartment for the past six years. He is very active in the community, serving as an Ambassador for new residents who have just moved in. Big John is also very physically active, walking outside or around the hallways daily. He plays Wii® bowling twice a week and throws a mean hand of blackjack!
“We are very much an Atria Sandy family. There is always one of us there working, and helping to make it such a special place for people to live and enjoy life within our community walls,” says Sharon. “Dad is 85 years young! Since our Mom passed in early 2012, he has found a companion to pal around with…and is enjoying living at Sandy.”
Without a doubt, Atria Sandy runs in the family.
