We are proud of all our residents and Atria's resident ambassadors are certainly no exception. Engage Life Director,  Michelle "Shell" Morley of Atria Paradise shares a story about one of their special resident ambassadors, Mr. James Mabry:

Let me introduce to you our newest Active Aging Ambassador, Mr. James Mabry! This resident and his wife first moved to independent living several years ago. As his wife’s health began to decline, she moved to memory care. Eventually, her health improved and they moved again into assisted living. When his wife passed away, he moved to another community  for a couple more years until he had a stroke.

After completing some rehabilitation at a local hospital, he came back to live in assisted living with us at Atria. His third anniversary back with us will be October 25, 2014.

He is an Army veteran, having served in the 77th Division Combat Engineers. (In other words, he built the bridges the enemy blew up.)

He retired as Senior Vice President for Tri Counties Bank in Chico.

He is a member of the walking club. Many of our staff and residents see him tirelessly walking the grounds or hallways in inclement weather.  He told me just that he completed his 2,000 miles in 15 months!

His inspiration for walking is his children and grandchildren. His son has even run in a couple Boston Marathons, and still runs in some. His grandson is a runner too.

He says the best thing about living here at Atria Paradise is the comfort of having help available when he needs it.
