Karen Devaney, Regional Director of Memory Care
Since joining Atria in 2015, Karen has helped communities prepare individualized care plans to support residents and give their families peace of mind. In addition to her decade of experience supporting Atria’s care teams, Karen is a licensed registered nurse with professional certifications through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, National Institute for Dementia Education and NICE Infection Prevention Certification from Northeastern University. In 2022, Karen received the McKnight’s Senior Living Women of Distinction Award for her work advocating for technology, policies and processes that allow caregivers to work smarter and focus more time on residents. Even with a wealth of education under her belt, Karen says her best learning experience was leaving nursing school and discovering that the job isn’t diagnoses and medical ailments – it’s people. For the past 16 years – when not providing nursing care – Karen has been involved in Little League Baseball and currently serves as the Administrator of the Little League Massachusetts District 15 Challenger Baseball program for children and young adults with differing abilities. Most importantly though, she is Nana to two beautiful grandchildren (ages 4 and 6).
